This shotgun is NOW SOLD. Thanks for looking.
Italian Side by Side Sporter 12 Bore Shotgun. This gun is believed to have been made around 1950 - 1951 by a very highly thought of Italian Gun Smith. The barrels are English Steel by Vickers of Sheffield, chambered for 2&3/4 inch cartridges and are 25 inches long, choked at 1/4 and 1/2 choke making it an ideal gun for Clays, Rough Shooting and Game Shooting with a 14 inch L.O.P.. The engraving on the action is of extremely high quality and very impressive to look at. It has double triggers and a manual safety catch. Nitro proofed and has all the other normal proof marks appart from the fact that the final proof mark seems to have been done in Israel, making this a very unusual and interesting shotgun to own and use.
It should be noted that the barrels have at some time in it's life been shortened for some reason and the right hand trigger is a little stiff and could maybe do with the trigger seer checking, but it fires very well on both barrels as anyone that has seen Pete Bony using this gun at the Club Clay ground will confirm.
All in all this is a very nice light shotgun to use and the markings on the gun suggest that it was a specially made to order for it's original owner, giving it some historical interest.
The asking price is not fixed but offers in excess of £80 will be considered for a quick sale. The only reason this gun has come up for sale is because the storage space is needed for a new Semi Auto shotgun recently purchesed by the owner.
