The club can trace it's name as far back as 1942, the records prior to that were destroyed in W.W.II, at that time there were around four hundred members but over the years this has dwindled to less than forty.
While we retain the name of "Chadderton Rifle and Pistol Club we unfortunately no longer shoot in Chadderton due to the loss of our range some years ago. We have replaced this loss with the use of three ranges for all our section of firearms, all of which are within a couple of miles from our roots in Chadderton. We also have the use of a farm for our Clay Pigeon Shoots. Chadderton is a mile from Oldham, on the outshirts of Manchester/ Lancashire, England. Situated in the foothills of the Pennines we have easy access to varying types of countryside.
Members have a range of facilities which they can choose from, these include .22 rimfire target shooting, .22 rimfire sporting rifle, pistol calibre carbines (.38, .357 and .44 magnum) and centre fire rifles up to 7.62 calibre.
The black powder pistol shooting is now getting off the ground, but we hope that it will improve even more in the near future.
The club has N.S.R.A. approved range control officers who will teach new members how to handle firearms in a safe and responsible manner, making it one of the safest sports in which to participate. The Range Control Officers along with the Committee are more than happy to assist any members should he or she encounter any difficulty. All members will offer help and advice to the "probationers".
We have a 100% safety record that is unbroken since 1942!
We are only a small club, we have a friendly atmosphere with everyone willing to help one another!
